Are you new to Canada? Are you looking for your first job? Through the EthniCity Work Experience program, you can gain valuable Canadian work experience and learn new skills to help you find a permanent job. The Work Experience program is part of EthniCity Catering, a social enterprise run by the Centre for Newcomers.

What does the program offer?

  • A temporary and part-time Canadian job
  • Training to work in a commercial kitchen
  • Orientation to what Canadian employers expect
  • Training in number skills, document use, English oral communication
  • A food safety card from the Calgary Health Region
  • Support to look for permanent work
  • Information about settling and adjusting to life in Canada

Program Details

  • The office is located at the Centre for Newcomers.
  • The commercial kitchen is located at 1308 Edmonton Trail NE. Take bus route #4 from downtown Calgary.

EthniCity Catering is currently recruiting participants for immediate placement in the Work Experience program. Openings are available for immigrants and refugee women and men.  Flexible hours (mornings and/or afternoons) with a minimum 15 hr/week for the first 10 weeks is guaranteed.
