Are you new to Canada, a caring individual who would like a career in health care? This program will train you to work in health care facilities, providing personal care for senior citizens who have lost their independence through disease, stroke or other illnesses.
What does the program offer?
- 16 weeks of academic upgrading at the Centre for Newcomers.
- Skills and knowledge you will need for the Canadian work environment.
- Employment readiness, including resume writing, interviewing and interpersonal skills, networking.
- 13 weeks of Health Care Aide Care Attendant training at Bow Valley College.
- A 5 week practicum in a health care facility.

Do you qualify?
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee,
in Canada for less than 10 years.
- Unemployed or underemployed.
- Completed schooling equal to minimum Grade 10 High School.
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4.
- Commitment to the entire 34 week program, and to employment in health care.
