Community Based Childcare

Free childcare for students

Do you want to improve your English? Do you have young children to care for?  Do you wonder how you can care for your children and attend Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes?

Community-Based Care for Newcomer Children is a program to help you find the best childcare for you and your children at no cost to you.

Program staff will introduce you to licensed daycares and dayhomes in Calgary.  They will help you choose the best daycare or dayhome for your needs.  Perhaps you want to use a daycare close to your home.  Perhaps you want to use a daycare close to your LINC class.

Staff will help you apply for the provincial childcare subsidy.  IRCC pays for the rest of the daycare costs as long as you regularly attend a LINC class in Calgary.

Do You Qualify?
  • You received your English test assessment results from ILVARC.
  • You are registered for a LINC class in Calgary.
  • You have low income.
  • Your child is five years old or younger and not attending school.
Please note that the Centre for Newcomers is the only official provider of this cost-free subsidized program in Calgary.
