1. Modest income

  • 1 person – $35,000

  • 2 people - $45,000

  • Additional $2,500 for each dependent

2. Simple tax situation

  •  self-employment (this includes those who drive for Uber, Skip the Dishes, Door Dash etc.)

  • No filing for someone deceased

  • No filing for bankruptcy

  • No business or rental income/expenses

October 5, 6 & 7 2020

Please join us on October 5th, 6th and 7th for "Shades of Africa,"  a three-day virtual conference reflecting on truth and reconciliation for children and youth and bridging the gap between the newcomer community and their allies.

 

The conference aims include developing ways to reduce isolation of the newcomer community of African descent, rebuilding trust while creating more allies, and examining the parallels & reflections within the greater Calgary community.

SHADES OF AFRICA

This program provides comprehensive and personalized services to EI recipients in Calgary and area for re-entry into the workforce. Clients may receive specialized technical training, childcare support and workers' benefits (WCB) while attending the program. Must currently be receiving Employment Insurance (EI) or have received regular EI payments in the previous 5 years. Would you like to learn and practice computer skills? We offer free computer literacy classes at the Centre for Newcomers. Content includes an introduction to computers, keyboarding, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These classes are open to all - refugees, immigrants and citizens of Canada.
