The Centre for Newcomers is thrilled to announce Roza Alomar as a keynote speaker at "Bridging Success" — CFN's 9th Annual Fundraiser. Roza Alomar grew up in Shingal, a mountainside community in northern Iraq, where she lived a peaceful childhood with her family. When she was ten, Daesh (ISIS) attacked the Yazidi community with genocidal violence.

Her grandfather was shot dead for helping neighbors survive the invasion; her father was later taken and is presumed murdered, along with many other relatives. Towns, villages, temples, schools, hospitals, and farms were looted and destroyed. The assault on the Yazidi people sought not only mass murder and enslavement but the erasure of their religion, customs, identity, and way of life.

Roza survived these horrors with her mother, five siblings, aunts, and cousins. After several escape attempts, she eventually found safety in Calgary, Canada, where she finished high school and began to share her story.

Not yet out of high school, Roza decided she wanted to share her story. Written with her high school teacher, Sean Steel, "I Survived ISIS" is a memoir of her harrowing account of loss, resilience, courage, and the struggle to reclaim freedom.

Roza Alomar’s story of unimaginable loss, extraordinary resilience, and tireless advocacy makes her an exceptionally powerful and deeply relevant speaker for Bridging Success. As a survivor who rebuilt her life in Calgary and courageously chose to share her memoir to illuminate the realities faced by displaced communities, Roza brings both personal authenticity and a hopeful, action-oriented voice that will inspire others, deepen understanding, and galvanize support for those seeking safety, dignity, and opportunity.

PolyTrack pushes players to stay calm at high speed. The minimalist low-poly design keeps the focus on the road ahead while the track layouts demand precise steering. Narrow paths, sharp turns, and elevation changes make every run feel intense. The controls respond quickly, allowing skilled players to push harder with confidence.
