CFN is thrilled to announce Indigenous Hip Hop Artists Valkyrie will be performing at our CFN's Annual fundraiser, 'Bridging Success" on March 19, 2026, at Calgary’s iconic Studio Bell & the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Experience the power of connection, where success converges with opportunity.
In Norse mythology, Valkyries are fearless warrior spirits who ride into battle as shield women, bridging the divine and human worlds. Valkyrie, an Ojibwe and Cree emcee, carries this legacy forward by bridging the musical and spiritual realms. She mothers the music while protecting the spirit, standing as a powerful one-woman force rooted in resilience, purpose, and ancestral strength.
She is the granddaughter of a Residential School survivor, the daughter of a Sixties Scoop survivor, and a survivor of the child welfare system herself. Through lived experience, Valkyrie understands the deep healing power of music. Her work as a lyricist is intentional and community-centered, using storytelling to restore voice, build connection, and transform pain into strength. She speaks openly on realities often silenced, including growing up in group care, MMIWG, alcoholism, and the intergenerational impacts of colonial violence. Songs such as U.I.Q and Take Control reflect both truth and empowerment.
Valkyrie’s sound moves beyond genre, blending elements that allow listeners to dance, sing, reflect, and heal. Her music carries both message and movement, creating space for vulnerability, strength, and collective healing. Each performance is an offering, grounded in culture, experience, and intention.
Mother first. Educated Kwe second.
An Anishinaabe/Nehiyaw hip-hop artist, Calgary-born and Edmonton-raised.
Beyond the stage, Valkyrie is deeply committed to uplifting Indigenous creatives and community. She organizes Indigenous rap and fashion shows in Mohkinstis, while also performing, modeling, and hosting events. Her work has been featured in multiple newspapers and magazines, and she remains grounded in gratitude for the opportunity to share her gifts and bring artists together to showcase culture, art, and good medicine.
With a strong commitment to giving back, Valkyrie intends to use both her education and her music to inspire and work alongside Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth. She is currently working toward becoming an Indigenous Social Worker, while also raising her two young warriors and continuing to turn survival into purpose.
