The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), released data in June of 2025 that stated over 122 million people—one in every 69 individuals, or 1.6% of the entire world's population—are forcibly displaced. For context, WWII saw 70 million people displaced. Then as it is today, Canada is seen around the world as a beacon of hope in their journey toward safety. These numbers will have increased significantly since June of 2025, with more global conflict by the day. Every time there is a worldwide crisis, we see people arriving in Calgary with hope in their back pocket.

From April 1, 2023 to December 2025, CFN has helped more than 10,000 refugees.

We cannot do this without your help.

The Centre for Newcomers: A Lifeline for Refugees

In a world where many individuals and families are forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters, a crucial lifeline emerges. Refugees arrive in new countries overwhelmed by challenges such as unstable housing, financial difficulties, and cultural shifts. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, the Centre for Newcomers is dedicated to providing much-needed support to these individuals, helping them rebuild their lives. One of the most impactful ways you can help is by donating to the Centre for Newcomers. Your contributions can significantly change lives.

Every year, millions of people seek refuge, fleeing their original homes in search of safety and a fresh start. Many of these individuals come with nothing more than the clothes they wear and the scars of their traumatic pasts.

Your support for the Centre for Newcomers is vital. Donations help refugees access services like housing, medical care, and counselling as they take their first steps towards a new life.

Impacts of Your Donation

Your donation can transform multiple aspects of a refugee's life. For example, securing emergency housing is often the first priority. When families arrive, having a safe place to stay can alleviate some of their immediate stress. Donations to the Emergency Refugee Basic Needs Fund helps provide temporary housing solutions for those in distress.

Additionally, your contributions help secure vital items necessary for daily living. Refugees frequently lack basic necessities, including personal hygiene items, bedding, and kitchen supplies. Your donation plays a prominent role in enhancing their day-to-day experiences.

The Ripple Effect of Your Support

Every donation you make sends ripples throughout the community. It addresses immediate needs while promoting long-term integration. Refugees who receive aid are more likely to thrive, contributing positively to their communities and the economy. Furthermore, your action stands as a powerful statement of compassion and solidarity in a world increasingly marked by chaos, encouraging others to join the cause. Together, we can create an environment where refugees feel supported and valued.

Changing Lives Together

Supporting the Centre for Newcomers goes beyond temporary assistance. It is about empowering individuals and families to establish their new lives. Your donation, regardless of size, is important. By coming together, we can make a significant impact, lighting the way for refugees on their journey to a brighter future.
