CFN would like to thank Harpinder Singh Sidhu, the Regional Manager at Punjab Insurance Calgary, a branch of Punjab Insurance Inc, for the support and sponsorship of CFN's 9th Annual fundraiser, 'Bridging Success" on March 19, 2026, at Calgary’s iconic Studio Bell & the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Experience the power of connection, where success converges with opportunity.

He immigrated to Canada from India in 2006. Like many newcomers, he was drawn by the promise of a better quality of life. Specifically, he was looking for robust career opportunities, a clean environment, and the safety provided by Canada’s low crime rate. He arrived with a bachelor’s in Technology and a drive to succeed.

The transition wasn't without its hurdles. His primary challenge was professional integration; he quickly discovered that his engineering degree from India was not immediately recognized by Canadian employers. Facing this "credential gap" was a moment of truth—he had to decide whether to fight an uphill battle for recognition or adapt to the needs of the local market.

To overcome this obstacle, he chose to be flexible and proactive. Instead of sticking strictly to his original plan, he reinvented himself. He transitioned from the technical world of engineering into the financial services sector.

By upgrading his skills and focusing on local certifications, he successfully built a new career as an Insurance and Investment Advisor. This shift allowed him to leverage his analytical background while providing a valuable service to his new community.

When he moved to Canada, he initially sought work in engineering. However, because his foreign credentials weren't recognized, he had to pivot. During his search, he discovered the world of insurance and investments.

He realized this field was a perfect fit for his analytical personality, but more importantly, he saw a significant need in his community for these services. He decided to start his own business to bridge that gap, turning a professional hurdle into an opportunity to provide financial guidance to those who need it most.

He believes the Centre for Newcomers is a vital lifeline for the community. Having navigated the immigrant experience himself, he’s seen firsthand how difficult it is to translate foreign skills into the Canadian market.

Many newcomers struggle with résumé formatting, understanding employer expectations, and the general hurdles of settlement. CFN bridges this gap by providing the specific tools and guidance needed to turn a difficult transition into a successful career. Supporting CFN is essential because when they help newcomers settle and find meaningful work, they strengthen the economic and social fabric of the entire city.

Join Harpinder and all of us at CFN on March 19, 2026 to experience the power of connection at the Centre for Newcomers’ Annual Fundraiser, where success converges with opportunity. This year’s event showcases the economic impact of CFN and the remarkable journeys of successful immigrants & refugees alongside key figures from Calgary’s business and philanthropic sectors.

This year’s spectacular venue symbolizes Canada’s national identity, reflecting its diversity and heritage. Our artists represent Canada’s landscape and society, influencing how Canadians see themselves and strengthening the country’s collective identity through shared stories—the perfect place to share our stories of impact and growth.

CFN and our guests will have this amazing venue entirely to ourselves for the evening, which will include special guests, performances, awards, and more. Stay tuned for more details. Get your Early Bird tickets today!

Wacky Flip turns every rooftop into a calculated risk. You press and hold to build jump power, knowing that the same charge controls your spin. The moment you release, the flip is locked in. Platforms ahead demand perfect alignment. A stable landing keeps the run alive, while a crooked one sends your character into floppy ragdoll chaos.
