April 23 to 29 is National Volunteer Week in Canada, but here at CFN we are dedicating the entire month of April to the hard work and passion volunteers give to others here at the centre and across the country.  Thank you Canadian volunteers, for 150 glorious years. Join us Wednesday, April 18 or 25,  1:30 – 3:30 pm, for a Volunteer Information Session for anyone who is interested in volunteering with the Centre for Newcomers or anyone else in the Calgary community.

This week CFN Productions met with Gail Jardine, a volunteer in VESL, CFNs Volunteer Lead ESL Program. To hear her thoughts on volunteerism simply click below.

Celebrating volunteers for an entire month is a great reminder of how much community organizations depend on people willing to give their time, patience, and support to others. Programs like VESL can have a real impact on newcomers adjusting to a different country and culture. The teamwork and steady encouragement involved in volunteer work also match the positive, progress-focused feeling that makes Slope Rider enjoyable over time.

Players may select from a variety of game types in Basketball Stars, including Shooting Race and Attacker-Defender. One player seeks to score by shooting and dribbling while the other tries to steal or block the ball in the Attacker-Defender game. These modes give the game Basketball Stars a dynamic feel and keep players interested all the time.
